One thing I never really understood is: Titanic was the biggest and most luxurious ship in 1912.

Why then was there no pictures of the ships interior before she sailed, like most of the media frenzy of today when a new ship sets sail. If I am correct, there were no pictures and most of the photos were of Olympics interior.
I just never understood this

Titanic was the 2nd of the olympic class coming into service, so Olympic had all the publicity the year before. :D

Yea Tom even though Olympic got the publicity wouldn't you think Titanic would have gotten at least a little more coverage with all the "celebrities" cream of the crop so to speak travelling on her?

Or was it just that there was not as much media coverage on things in 1912 as there is today?

I would think Ismay and White Star Line would have pushed for a lot of coverage and pictures?

Anthony,
yea I think that would have been a great publicity stunt---Titanic breaking a speed record and getting to New York, of all places faster. So I would think a "reporter" should have been aboard taking all kinds of photos for the big event?

Just seems a shame that no "real" Titanic pictures were ever taken

Betty are you asking wheter or not there were any pictures taken of the ship before she sailed? if so then i am sure there were pictures taken to publicise her, although alot of the pics used were Olympic. i think the private promenade of one of the millionaire suites was photographed, as was the state room that the Cardeza's stayed in. i will look into it for you.

Bess,
Yes, I was wondering why no pictures were taken of Titanic itself rather than Olympic. Just seems like Titanic being so luxurious and carrying so many wealthy passengers should have been played up more in the newspapers?

And, not being christened? Geez that should have been a really media blitz, don't you think. I just can't stop wondering "why" this was not so
