Okay, I saw that there were about a million posts on here reguarding the possible building of a Titanic 2, so I decided to research this myself. Here's a few links of things I found some people may find useful.
1. www.geocities.com/titanicandco/sailagain.html
2. www.put.com/gigantic/
3. http://www.webtitanic.net/framenews.html#A
4. http://www.angelfire.com/ma/ThomasAndrewLine/
( the number 5 link is very hard to navigate, so I will post another topic in here and tell you exactly what I found there)

If any of those webiste didn't work for anyone, email me and I will try to help.

Okay, here's what I found on the fifth link. I copied this exactly, but if anyone would like to see it for themselves, be my guest!

Company Info
Thomas Andrews Trans-Atlantic Line Co.is an organization that was first organized in 1997. The organization was comprised of Joshua H. Behn as president, Ben Fields as Vice President, and Jennifer Schneck and Erik T.Pereira as advisors. The organization was formed to plan and see through construction, a replica of the RMS Titanic. The goal was to create a replica that was as near as possible to the original. Any technical changes that needed to be made, for safety regulations or the such, would be made in such a way that it would preserve the appearance of the original ship. The organization was disbanded in 1999. It disbanded with the intentions of reorganizing in Spring of 2001.

The organization has started up again, with Mr. Behn again serving as President. As of right now, we are in the process of reorganizing and intend to be fully into the research phase of the "Centennial Project" by May. We plan to have the organization registered as a company by October. By then, the research phase of the project should be complete and started in the planning phase. The company will become of major importance in the years to come, as it embarks on it's efforts to build a replica of the RMS Titanic.

Those who would like to send Email to Thomas Andrews Trans Atlantic Line may do so at the link below. If you would like to write the company, mail may be sent to:

Thomas Andrews Trans-Atlantic Line

While we will make a supreme effort to respond to every piece of mail received, It may take some time to receive an answer. We appreciate all the support we have gotten.

THE NEW TITANIC - A MONUMENT AND MEMORIAL
On the morning of April 15th, 1912, the Royal Mail Ship TITANIC, sank beneath the waves, carrying with her over 1,500 men, women, and children. Though it's horrific enough that 1,500 people were sacrificed in that accident, whats even more appaling is the fact that they were sacrificed needlessly. Their deaths were totally preventable, and all most likely would've been saved if not for the terrible fact that the Titanic was not equipped with enough lifeboats. With only 20 lifeboats, Titanic saved only 700 so passengers, and left the others to freeze in the ice cold waters of the North Atlantic. When the disaster was all over, the losses were enormous. Among the dead were John Jacob Astor, Benjamin Guggenheim, Isidor and Ida Straus, Capt. Smith (The Captain), Henry Wilde (Chief Officer), William Murdoch (1st Officer), Jack Phillips (Senior Radio Operator), Archibald Butt (Military advisor to President Taft), Thomas Andrews (Chief Designer of Titanic), and hundreds upon hundreds of other crewmembers and 1st, 2nd, and 3rd class passengers. Only about 300 of those who died were recovered, and most of these were buried in plots in Nova Scotia. Many of those recovered were unidentified. The new replica will be built in honor and remembrance of those 1,500 who died and will serve as a living Monument and Memorial to those who died. May those 1,500 souls never be forgotten.

Thomas Andrews Trans-Atlantic Line Co. has vowed to preserve the memory of Titanic and those who died, by constructing another Titanic. This new Titanic will serve as a living monument and memorial to those who died. Contrary to rumors abounding, the new Titanic will not be named Titanic 2, but will be named just Titanic in honor of her predecessor. It's felt by Behn, President of TAT-AL, that "to call the new ship anything else would be a disrespect to the memory of Titanic." Respect means everything to us here at Thomas Andrews Line. Out of respect to Titanic, the new ship will be as near an exact replica to Titanic as possible. Any necessary changes in design or any additions required by Law, will be either hidden from sight, or disguised as one of Titanic's articles.

Below is a list of changes that we know will be required, as of this time. Please read on to find out what and how we intend to implement these changes into the original design.

CHANGES AND ADDITIONS NECESSARY IN TITANIC

1. Sonar System - One of the safety systems most modern ships have today is the Sonar system. This is usually found in a bubble like apparatus, on the prow area of the ship, below the waterline. The sonar is meant to locate underwater obstructions such as sandbars, other small water craft, submarines, icebergs (such as the one that sunk Titanic), and especially growlers (terminology used for small icebergs that are for the most part barely above the surface of the water). As the new Titanic will be using the North Atlantic run, which is extremely hazardous due to the amount of icebergs and growlers found there, a sonar system will be needed for safety. Such a system will allow the ship to spot icebergs from far away, and avoid them. In order to avoid any structural changes to Titanic, which normally would be required, we intend to put the sonar system in the very forward part of the ship, in the most forward storage area. This part of the ship is the part which forms a triangle, where both sides of the ship meet, to form the prow. With this kind of a system, we'll be transmitting the sonar waves from inside the ship, thus eliminating the external sonar bubble.

2. Radar System- Another system that will be needed for safety will be a radar system. Obviously, Titanic never had a radar system, so it will have to be hidden. We intend to design a system that will fit inside of the crows nest, out of view. On the original Titanic, lookouts tried to spot icebergs from the crows nest, and on the new one, icebergs will still be spotted from the crows nest.

3. Modern Radio system- Titanic's main form of communication to the world was it's Marconi system. At that time it was the most modern and advanced system in the world. Today, the Marconi Telegraph system is ancient, and be of no use in communication. Thus a modern radio system will be necessary. The new system will be designed to look like Titanic's Marconi Telegraph, but will actually be a complete, modern system.

4. Fire proof Wood Sealer- Between 1900 - 1970's, many steamers were destroyed because of fires that broke out. Steamers like the Normandie,Queen Elizabeth, and countless others, suffered the same fates because of the amount of wood that made up their interiors. As a result of these, regulations have forbid ships to be fit out with that amount of wood. I intend to make the ship fire proof by coating all wood features (Of which there are a great many!!), with a clear, fire Proof sealer, making the wood fire proof.

TITANIC RECONSTRUCTED: DETAILS ON THE NEW SHIP

It has just recently been decided that the new ship will employ about the same number of people, as the original Titanic did. All in all, about 900 people will be employed by Thomas Andrews Trans-Atlantic Line, once the new ship has been completed. Included in that number will be an army of over 200 firemen, trimmers, and greasers, all necesary for the ship's propulsion. The Ship will be steam powered, just as Titanic was, fueled by coal.

Every detail about the ship will be meticulously recreated. Passengers will be able to ride the electric camels and mechanical horses in the gymnasium. Passengers will be able to go for a swim in the swimming pool (Titanic's swimming pool was the first swimming pool on a ship. It was open at various times for men, and at different times for women). If passengers wish to get different meals, than those served in the dining rooms, they can eat at the Verandah Cafe and Cafe Perisien (The Verandah Cafe boasts a lovely, live Palm court, where live Palm plants are growing). In addition, the ship boasts the Ala Carte Restraunt, a restraunt which will be independently run, not controlled by Thomas Andrews Trans-Atlantic Line (The Titanic's Ala Carte Restraunt had the same type of setup, with a controller, and it's own managers).

The ship's maiden voyage will be on April 10th, 2012, to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Titanic's Maiden voyage. On that historic day, she will begin her life as a Monument and memorial to the victims of the Titanic tragedy. She will sail the same route as Titanic had planned, with a memorial service on April 15th, at 2:00 AM as we reach the spot Titanic went down. The voyage will end on Wednesday, April 17th, with a triumphant entry into New York. The ship will complete the voyage Titanic never finished, and continue Titanic's legacy. After the Maiden Voyage, the ship will continue to cross the Atlantic, from Southampton to New York and vice versa.

So, is this actually going to happen then? I read just after the Titanic film came out they were going to build a replica of the ship but hadn't heard any more about it.

Well, there have been plans in the past to try to take on this project, as my many links made clear...but, at the same time, no one can really finance it. It would cost a huge amount of money and man power..I don't think either of those can be offered right now to actually take these plans seriously. Although many people have tried and would probably like to see it made, I don't think it will happen any time soon.
