Bess,
Found it !!!!! It is said that the origin of the name Liverpool may trace back to the first century AD, when there was a settlement among the banks of the River Mersey, next to a muddy creek, known as a "lifrugpool". Whether true or not, at the beginning of the 13th century, King John issued a charter to the town of "Livpul" for the development of a seaport. |

[quote:6b58916861="Betty"]Bess,
Found this for you: Re: Cornwall The modern English name is derived from the tribal name Cornovii and the Anglo-Saxon word wealas meaning "foreigners". Cornovii may mean "horn [i.e. peninsula] people". Wealas is also the origin of the name Wales.[/quote:6b58916861] Thanks Betty, your a star. so does it mean i come from the land of the horny people?? |

Teamtuna,
I clicked the search key and put in Liverpool, and origin of the name, Liverpool and History. When I did not find anything there it suggested google. Anyway this is the site: www.britannia.com I try every combination I can think of when I am "searching" for something. Some times it works and other times?? Betty |
